How to quit your job, be brave, and amazing

May 11, 2017

Yes, I have an happy and simple life! I can be in the water almost every day and I work in beautiful beaches around the world creating women's kiteboarding bikinis. What more can I ask for?

But a life like this doesn’t come without some sacrifice and changes.

In 2009, I gave up my life in Rome Italy, with high profile jobs in consulting companies like KPMG and PwC, with a boyfriend, with an apartment downtown, with many friends with whom I grew up, and all the comforts of my pink bubble.

Why?

To travel the world, and kitesurf, and be free!

Still I was feeling that I needed to discover more… so I got out of my comfort zone and I started a different way of living.

During the first few months of my new journey I crossed the path of an amazing woman, a queen in the kitesurf world, Laurel Eastman.

Because of her I landed in Cabarete, Dominican Republic, a caribbean paradise for surfing and kitesurfing.

The plan was to stay couple of months… but I fell in love with the place and its vibe and I made it my home.

I now spend part of the year in Cabarete.

I wake up in the morning to catch some waves at Encuentro, and I kitesurf in the windy afternoons.

Since the beginning I worked as a coach, and organizing kite adventures for tourists who come visit.

But after a couple of years I felt the need to create my own business and that’s why BIANCA Bikinis started.

Actually it was not really planned, like a startup usually is by thinking  about a great idea, planning the actions, collecting money, and going live!

This started totally like a hobby. I was cutting some bikinis for me, then for my girlfriends, then I was asked to do a fashion show at Nikki Beach in Cabarete, and then I saw it was fun and happy and I decided to make a real business.

BIANCA Bikinis are made for women that love the ocean and the action, that want to feel comfortable on the beach and in the water and at the same time keep their femininity and a great style!

I put all of me into the brand. From the Italian style that is in my blood, to the knowledge of the kite girls and surfer girls needs, because I do both sports in bikini, and the trial of all the samples in the water before approving them.

Sure, since it’s a real business, I deal with all issues of a company… admin, accounting, production, sales, marketing, logistics.

It’s a lot of work but I still love it!

I love when I shoot great women in the water surfing and kiting.

I love when I see a girl in the water with my bikini and a smile in her face.

I love when clients tell me they feel pretty and good in my bikinis.

I love that I can support amazing organizations for women loving the ocean such as The Women’s Kiteboarding Collective!

Some people say I’m ‘living the dream’. We are all capable of living our dreams, as long as we know what that dream is, we believe in it, and we are willing to get there!
